Lawmaker denies owning Facebook account-A A +A
Thursday, August 22, 2013
ZAMBOANGA first district Representative Celso Lobregat has warned Facebook enthusiasts against exchanging views and comments to a person carrying his name.
Lobregat said the account "Celso Lobregat" that is participating in some Facebook account walls is not maintained, authorized or sanctioned by him or his office.
“Obviously it is an impostor, a fake profile of myself and should be outrightly banned from all walls,” he said.
The pseudo account holder had been in social networking sites since the time Lobregat was mayor. Several others, bringing the name of the first district congressional office, were recently added.
The congressman said the account holder posted activities and information about the city with posts and comments that are mostly foul and offensive.
The holder of the fake account also posted a photograph of a Zamboangueña overseas Filipino worker (OFW) based in Saudi Arabia, whom he claimed to have been found positive of Human Immuno Virus-Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV-Aids).
The mother of the OFW visited Lobregat’s congressional office to disclaim the posts, claiming it has besmirched the reputation of her daughter.
The OFW’s friends on Facebook also expressed disbelief and dared the pseudo-Celso Lobregat account to show proofs of his claims.
Lobregat said the account or accounts violate his rights as a person and the guidelines of Facebook. (Bong Garcia)
