THE Department of Education (DepEd) in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Armm) is set to implement a biometric enrollment program for kindergarten students in the region.
DepEd-Armm Secretary Jamar Kulayan said the program aims to eliminate malpractices, like "bloated" number of students, by some school officials in the region.
The malpractices of some teachers were uncovered during ocular inspections conducted in some of the schools in the region, he said.
He cited o0ne instance wherein 50 students were listed to be enrolled in one of the villages, but DepEd found out during an inspection that the actual number is only 20.
Kulayan said the implementation of the biometric enrollment program will eradicate the existence of "ghost" students. (Bong Garcia)
