MAYOR Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar challenged the youth and the young adults on Tuesday to be engaged citizens of Zamboanga City, stressing hers is a participatory administration.
"Do not just complain, help find solutions," Salazar told the youth during the Young People's Convention.
She also urged the youth representing different public and private schools in the city to spread the word that Zamboanga is a unique city that has its own challenges.
"We need to expand. We need to empower and we need efficiency," Salazar said, stressing that "when young people converge with one vision, they become a dynamic and potential force for change."
She said her administration will be pushing for e-governance, public safety, emergency response, people collaboration, interactive environment, proactive security, green technology, social programs, and social media.
The whole day event was organized by the Human Development and Empowerment Services, Unicef, Department of Health, and the Sangguniang Kabataan Zamboanga City Federation, in coordination with the City Government and the National Youth Commission.
It focused on educating the youth about the many issues and concerns affecting their sector, particularly on teenage pregnancy, adolescence, children's rights, as well as about the dreaded human immunodeficiency virus. (Bong Garcia)
