MGB approves mining firm’s safety program-A A +A
Thursday, August 29, 2013
THE Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) has approved the 2013 Safety and Health Program (SHP) of Atro Mining-Vitali, Inc. (AMVI) after the company complied with the requirements.
The approved SHP serves as a guide to avoid accident in the work place.
“AMVI management considers the program very important as it affects the health and safety of the life of its employees,” said AMVI vice-president for exploration Leo Sosa.
He said the program also seeks to eliminate unforeseen hazards that may result damage to properties.
He said it shall be improved annually to achieve the industry’s best practice as part of the firm’s commitment to MGB.
The AMVI is set to continue its second phase of exploration program, which aims to increase mineral reserve, for its Vitali Iron Ore Project covered under Mineral Production Sharing Agreement (MPSA).
However, it still needs to submit regular reports to MGB of Zamboanga Peninsula and secure necessary permits from concerned government agencies.
Additional conditions should also be implemented to the approved SHP, depending on the results of monitoring and safety audits. (Bong Garcia)
