TWO fishermen were injured in a dynamite blast off Zamboanga City, the police reported Tuesday.
Police Station 3 commander Senior Inspector Noel Lozano reported the incident happened around 7 p.m. Sunday off the village of Sangali.
Lozano identified the victims as Mibun Haruddin, 39, and Ismael Jalani, 27, both residents of Sitio Aplaya, Manicahan village.
Investigation showed that prior to the incident, Haruddin lit a dynamite while they were on fishing venture last Sunday evening, Lozano said.
He said the dynamite exploded before Haruddin could throw it into the sea that resulted to the injury of both fishermen.
They were admitted for treatment at the government-run Mindanao Central Sanitarium.
The use of dynamite or other explosives for fishing is in violation to Section 12 of the "Fisheries Act". [Read more about R.A.No. 4003 or the Fisheries Act]
