A BOMB explosion rocked the province of Zamboanga Sibugay and caused panic among the residents, the police reported Friday.
Zamboanga Peninsula police information officer Ariel Huesca said the blast took place around 7:45 p.m. Thursday at a bridge in Barangay Muyo, Buug.
No one was either killed or wounded although the bomb exploded as a sports utility vehicle (SUV) was passing on the bridge en route to Ipil, the capital of Zamboanga Sibugay province, he said.
Huesca said the explosion has caused panic among the SUV passengers and “luckily, no one was injured as the result of said explosion.”
He said there was power failure in almost the entire town of Buug prior to the blast, adding that the bridge remains passable to all types of vehicles since the incident did not cause any structural damage.
The police in the town of Buug are conducting follow-up and thorough investigation “to determine the identity of the suspect and the motive as well,” Huesca said. (Bong Garcia)
