Tungawan town official killed-A A +A

AN OFFICIAL of a municipality in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay was killed by gunmen Wednesday night, the police reported on Thursday.
Zamboanga Peninsula police information officer Ariel Huesca said the incident happened around 9 p.m. Wednesday in the village of Libertad, Tungawan town.
Huesca identified the fatality as lawyer Jocelyn Luna, Tungawan municipal information officer.
The police said Luna was shot to death by two gunmen armed with M16 Armalite rifles while the victim was at her residential compound.
Tungawan town Mayor Randy Climaco said the victim just arrived home and was about to enter her house when she was shot to death.
“She just arrived home from the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU)-Extension Campus,” Climaco said.
Climaco said the victim was also teaching at WMSU-Extension Campus aside from being the municipal officer.
Climaco said the victim is about to assume as the new Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer.
He said it remains unclear what could be the motive behind the incident.
All possible motives are being look into as the investigation continues aimed to unmask the suspects, Huesca said.
