THE Zamboanga City Health Office (CHO) together with the Department of Health (DOH) vaccinated the elderly folks, who are staying at the evacuation centers to protect them from diseases.
City health officer Dr. Rodelin Agbulos said the elderly were injected with pneumococcal and anti-flu vaccines.
Agbulos said the DOH is providing them the necessary vaccines to ensure the protection of the elderly evacuees, who are housed at the 30 evacuation centers.
Agbulos said they have yet to determine the exact number of elderly who are among the thousands of people displaced by last month's standoff.
Vaccines will also be given to the other evacuees who need to be vaccinated, Agbulos said.
The standoff started last September 9 when hundreds of Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) rebels have infiltrated the city. (Bong Garcia)
