MAYOR Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar has issued two executive orders (Eos) in a bid to ensure a peaceful and solemn observance of the All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days in Zamboanga City.
The two EOs numbered BC-19-2013 and BC-20-2013 penned and issued by Salazar last Wednesday would take effect from midnight of November 1 until 5 p.m. of November 2.
EO BC-19-2013 authorizes the acting Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director, through the traffic division chief, to plan, adopt, and implement a traffic re-routing scheme on all roads leading to public and private cemeteries in the city.
Salazar said the City Government’s traffic aides are also ordered to assist the policemen in manning the traffic.
EO BC-20-2013 stipulates rules and regulations to be observed and for strict compliance during the observance of the All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days in the city, according to Salazar.
The second EO prohibits the following: the bringing of firearms and bladed weapons and other similar items inside the cemetery; bringing, selling, and drinking of liquor inside all cemetery; putting up temporary stalls and selling of foods, beverages, candles, etc within the 20 meters space leading to the entrance gate of the cemetery; playing of loud music from stereo, communicating through microphones or conversing in loud voices that causes disturbance to others; any type of gambling; use of firecracker and pyrotechnic display; and, entry of vehicle into cemetery compound.
Salazar warned that violators of the EOs will be dealt with accordingly. (Bong Garcia)
