THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) will focus on high value targets in its anti-drugs campaign in the Zamboanga Peninsula, a PDEA official announced.
PDEA Regional Jeffrey Bangsa said it is in line with the directive of PDEA Director-General Arturo Cacdac Jr.
High value target personalities are described as people engaged in drug trade involving the volume of 50 grams or more, as well as government employees and law enforcers, said Bangsa, the newly-installed PDEA regional chief.
Zamboanga Peninsula is one of the critical areas as far as illegal drugs trade is concern, citing they are eying many personalities who fall under the high valued target category, Bangsa said.
He also said they are validating reports that there are politicians involved in the trade of prohibited drugs here in the region.
Bangsa said there are no foreign personalities who are actively involved in illegal drug trade in this region.
The new regional director also said the agency’s campaign is aimed toward a drug lesser region every year and hope to achieve a drug free region.
He urged the public to assist them in the anti-drug campaign, citing solving problems on prohibited drugs is not the concern alone of PDEA but everybody’s concern.
Bangsa, whose designation is effective September 3, replaced PDEA Regional Director Adzhar Albani, who was assigned in Region IV-A.
He was the Region IV-A director prior to his new assignment. He was born in the village of Taluksangay, this city and is a member of Philippine Military Academy PMA Class 2000. (Bong Garcia)
