THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has allocated P53 million for the implementation of rip-rapping project to control flooding in an east coast village in Zamboanga City.
Rep. Lilia Nuño (2nd district) said the project, which will be constructed in Tamion River in the village of Vitali, will prevent the river from overflowing into the Vitali Elementary School during heavy rains.
She said the rip-rap, which will cover a length of 500 meters with one-meter width, will also serve as a safe passage along the river bank.
She urged the DPWH to hasten the implementation of the project to prevent flooding in the school campus.
