TWO people, including a militiaman, have been killed and two others were wounded in two separate gun attacks in Zamboanga Peninsula.
The Police identified the killed victims as Bryan Talas, 26, a militiaman, and Remedios Robesquillo, 45, a fish merchant.
Wounded were Marlon Lumawan, 30, also a fish merchant, and Mohammad Dacula, a habal-habal driver.
Zamboanga Peninsula police information officer Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca said Talas was shot to death by two gunmen around 8:05 p.m. Thursday at Purok 3 in the village of Baluno, Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay.
Huesca said Talas was returning to his barracks coming from a store located a hundred meters away when repeatedly shot by the suspects with an M-16 rifle.
The suspects, one of them clad in bonnet mask with fatigue short pants and the other in brown T-shirt and long pants, fled under cover of darkness.
The slain militiaman was detailed with the Army’s 16th Special Forces Company under Captain Nocky Siao.
Meanwhile, Robesquillo and Lumawan were aboard a motorcycle driven by Dacula when he was shot around 7:30 p.m. Friday at Zone 2 in the village of Muricay, Pagadian City.
Huesca said Robesquillo was fatally hit and died on the spot while Lumawan and Dacula were admitted at the Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center.
He said the victims were on the way home coming from Tiguma Public Market when two gunmen attacked them.
The police are investigating both cases to identify the suspects. (Bong Garcia)
