AT LEAST P3 million worth of properties were razed in a fire that hit the municipality of Molave, Zamboanga del Sur, the police said Monday.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the incident happened around 2 a.m. Sunday in the village of Culo, Molave, Zamboanga del Sur.

The BFP said faulty electrical wiring caused the fire that started in one of the houses and razed 35 houses.

The BFP said the fire lasted for three hours, displacing 38 families.

Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) officer Gerry Delos Santos said the Municipal Government has provided relief assistance to the affected families.

Delos Reyes said each of the families were given a sack of 25-kilo rice, noodles, and canned goods as well as P1,000 cash.

He said the MDRRMC also provided tents to serve as temporary shelter, constructed near the site of the fire scene. (Bong Garcia)
