Rotarians donate iPads to PWDs-A A +A

THE Rotary Club of Metro Zamboanga has donated some $20,000 worth of iPad mini to persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Zamboanga City.
Rotary Club of Metro Zamboanga president Richard Dalingay said the donation of 57 units of iPads is aimed to help alleviate the plight of the PWDs.
Dalingay said the project was made possible through the help of other rotary clubs citing the Rotary Club Metro Zamboanga raised $5,000 while another $5,000 was contributed by the Rotary District and the Rotary Club of Oregon provided $10,000 counterpart.
Dalingay said the iPads were distributed Tuesday afternoon to the beneficiary-PWDs in a simple ceremony held at the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) covered court.
Dalingay said the beneficiaries include non-verbal autistics, deaf-mute and those who suffered stroke and face with the difficulty to talk.
He said the beneficiaries were chosen by the Autism Society of the Philippines-Zamboanga City chapter. The non-verbal autistics and deaf-mute are studying in the different schools in this city.
Dalingay said each of the iPads has feature that enable them to communication to another person.
He said the iPad will be of great help to the beneficiaries, especially the autistics and deft-mute, since they were taught in school on how to use the gadget “but find difficult to acquire iPad since it is costly.” (Bong Garcia)
