Farmers, fisherman kill militiaman-A A +A

A MILITIAMAN was killed by three farmland tenants in a remote village of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported Saturday.
The Zamboanga del Norte Police Office (ZDNPO) reported that the incident took place around 5:40 p.m. Friday in the village of La Libertad, Gutalac municipality.
The police identified the fatality as Bonifacio Tunog, 48, a member of the militia force based in the village of Kipit, Labason, Zamboanga del Norte.
The victim was allegedly shot and killed by Ludjuman Jamang, 33, farmer; Alfonso Rombines, Jr., 48, farmer; and, Elvin Quirante, 47, fisherman, the police said.
The suspects, who are all tenants of Isagan’s farmland, were arrested by policemen in a follow-up operation, the police said.
Investigation showed that the victim was on the way home when he and the suspects, who were allegedly, drunk crossed path and engaged in a heated argument, the police said.
The suspects allegedly shot the victim at the height of their verbal altercation, the police said.
The suspects fled but were arrested in the village of Gil Sanchez, Labason, in a hot pursuit operation with the help of their employer, Dr. Henry Isagan, the police said. (Bong Garcia/Sunnex)
