Fish broker’s captors charged-A A +A

POLICE have filed cases of kidnapping with serious illegal detention and robbery against the suspects behind the abduction of a fish broker in Zamboanga Sibugay, said an official on Tuesday.
The victims, Cynthia Cavoberde, a fish broker, and Cely Alas-as, a village chief, were separately seized by gunmen almost simultaneously last Thursday.
Zamboanga Peninsula police information officer Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca said charged for kidnapping with serious illegal detention and robbery were Adznar Chiong alias Buda and Nurhassan Jamiri and John Does.
Huesca said the case was filed before the Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.
Chiong was arrested around 1 a.m. last Thursday in a follow-up operation in Sitio Timex in the village of Bangkerohan, Ipil, while Jamiri and their cohorts remain at large.
Cavoberde was aboard a truck together with her husband, Edrin Agca, around 8:45 p.m. last Thursday coming from the port of Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, where she paid salary to her fishing boat crew when a man who hitched ride pulled a gun and commanded them to the beach when they reached Sitio Palid in the village of Magdaup.
Five other gunmen surfaced when they reached the beach and the suspects divested Cavoberde of P800,000 in cash.
The suspects dragged Cavoberde and forced her to board on a motorized banca and sped to the high seas.
Chiong was positively identified by Ricky Albon, the victim’s cousin and driver, as one the gunmen who seized Cavoberde.
Huesca named one of the three suspects involved in the abduction of Alas-as as Jasser Siddik, who identified by the victims son.
Siddik was arrested by a joint police and military forces in a pursuit operation that was launched after three gunmen seized Alas-as.
Alas-as, the village chief of Paniran, Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte, was seized by three gunmen wearing bonnet masks around 8 p.m. last Thursday from her residence.
The gunmen dragged Alas-as to the shore and forced her to board on a motorized banca that sped towards the direction of Labuan village in Zamboanga City.
Huesca said manhunt operation continue aimed to arrest Siddick’s two cohorts namely, Yusop Maliki and a certain Jumrani, who are still at large.
