Village chief’s abductors charged-A A +A

THE police have filed criminal charges against four people tagged as behind the abduction of a village chief in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, an official said Wednesday.
Cecilia Alas-as, the village chief of Paniran, Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte, was abducted last December 12.
Zamboanga Peninsula police information officer Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca identified the suspects as Jasser Siddik, Yusop Malikki, Rolly Mahamud, and Merham Jumrani.
They were charged for kidnapping and serious illegal detention before the provincial prosecutor’s office in Dipolog City, the capital of Zamboanga del Norte, Huesca said.
Alas-as was inside her house when the gunmen barged in and seized her.
Huesca said that Siddik was arrested by a joint police and military forces in a pursuit operation that was launched immediately after the incident.
Huesca said the three other suspects remain at large and were subject of police manhunt.
