Gunmen abduct teacher in Limaong village-A A +A

UNIDENTIFIED heavily armed men have seized a public school teacher while riding a motorized banca off Zamboanga City, the police reported Thursday.
Zamboanga Peninsula police information officer Ariel Huesca said the incident took place shortly after 3 p.m. near Sitio Paraitan in the village of Limaong, 83 kilometers east of this city.
Chief Inspector Huesca identified the victim as Cathy May Casipong, 23, of Sibogtok primary school in the village of Limaong.
Police investigation showed that the victim was aboard a motorized banca on the way home to the village of Vitali located mainland Zamboanga City when 10 gunmen aboard two other motorized bancas appeared.
The gunmen seized the victim and left her co-teachers and motorized banca operator behind and sped towards Bacungan Island in Zamboanga Sibugay.
The police said one of the two motorized bancas of the suspects is painted with white and yellow stripes and with markings "Sangali."
Sangali is the name of a village located 25.34 kilometers east of this city.
Huesca said the victim's co-teachers and the motorized banca operator were invited to shed light on the incident.
He said personnel from the Police Station 1 based in the village of Vitali have launched manhunt operation for possible arrest of the suspects and rescue of the victim. (Bong Garcia)
