ZAMBOANGA City Mayor Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar has tasked the authorities to ensure the swift recovery of a teacher who was abducted on Wednesday.
Salazar has convened Friday an executive meeting with the security sector to discuss the progress in the investigation relative to incident.
Cathy May Casipong, 23, was seized by 10 gunmen around 3 p.m. Wednesday in the vicinity of Sitio Paraitan in the village of Limaong, 83 kilometers east of this city.
Casipong and four others, including three co-teachers of Sibogtok primary school in Limaong, were on board a motorized banca on the way home to nearby Vitali when the gunmen aboard on two motorized bancas appeared and seized the victim.
The executive meeting was purposely to get updates on the operations undertaken by authorities to secure the safe recovery of Casipong.
The security sector is a committee under the Crisis Management Committee (CMC) that included top local police and military officials.
Also present during the meeting were City Division of Schools officer-in-charge Superintendent Pedro Melchor Natividad and City Administrator Antonio Orendain Jr.
Salazar, who is also a former teacher, was saddened by the incident and hoped that Casipong will be safely released without any condition as soon as possible.
She assigned Natividad to be the sole spokesperson for the particular incident and directed the latter to closely coordinate with the police and military for the release of timely and accurate information.
Initial report indicated that some suspects have already been identified and that charges are being readied for filing against them.
