Businessmen reminded to renew permit early-A A +A
Friday, December 27, 2013
THE local government is reminding owners and managers of business establishments in Zamboanga City to renew their permits early to avoid the rush and payment of penalties and surcharges.
The renewal of business permits is expected to be on full blast starting January 2, the first working day for the year 2014, even as the City Government has started accepting applications for renewal as early as last month.
Under the law, January 20, 2014 is the deadline set for the payment of business taxes.
Permits and Licensing Division chief Benjie Barredo said that late payments will mean a surcharge of 25 percent and two percent additional penalty for every month of delay.
Barredo is expected to introduce starting January 2 some innovations to better serve the public during the renewal period.
City Mayor Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar has issued Executive Order (EO) BC 28-2013 mandating the streamlining of internal regulatory system on the business permit and licensing process.
The same EO directs all departments and divisions concerned to submit regular progress report to the city mayor and for other related purposes.
Specifically, the order directs the implementation of the Business Permit Registration Process with specific guidelines.
The process is expected to shorten the processing time with the release of the temporary or conditional permit to operate. (Bong Garcia/Sunnex)
