MOTORCYCLE-riding gunmen have killed a businessman in an east coast village in Zamboanga City, the police reported.
The city’s Police Station 5 reported that the incident took place around 8:40 p.m. at Pilarico Drive in the village of Putik, 4.65 kilometers east of this city.
The police identified the victim as Jonathan Lucot, who sustained six gunshot wounds and was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician at the Western Mindanao Medical Center (WMMC).
Investigation showed that the victim, bringing a small bag containing the day’s income of his store, went home ahead of his employees.
The police said the victim’s neighbors heard repeated burst of gunfire after he shouted “ayaw! ayaw!” upon reaching the unlighted alley leading to his residence.
The unidentified suspects were later seen leaving the crime scene aboard a red motorcycle without registered plate number.
The police suspected that the motive of the killing could possibly be robbery and that the victim may have resisted since the money he was carrying was scattered all over the crime scene.
