Family losses house in New Year’s Eve fire

A FAMILY of six lost their house and other valuables in a New Year’s Eve fire in the municipality of Lapuyan, Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported.

The incident took place around 9:50 a.m. Tuesday at Purok Tinago in the village of Poblacion, Lapuyan town.

Razed to the ground was a residential house made of light materials owned by Erad Rogalado, 49, whose family relies on farming as means of livelihood.

Prior to the incident, the police said that Rogalado and his wife went to the public market leaving behind their four children.

While their parents were not around, the police said the children played matches which caused the fire that engulfed the entire house.

No one among the four children was injured as they were able to get out of the house before it was engulf by the fire, the police said.
