Gunmen kill village official, injure 2 others

MOTORCYCLE-RIDING gunmen have killed a village official and injured two others in a drive-by shooting in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported Wednesday.

Slain was Wiliro Elisan, the village chief of Sta. Cruz, Diplahan town, according to Zamboanga Peninsula police information officer Ariel Huesca.

Wounded were Reynaldo Baldicasa and Juanito Encallado, a village councilman and village treasurer of Sta. Cruz, respectively.

Chief Inspector Huesca said the victims were aboard a motorcycle driven by Baldicasa travelling along the highway of Maganay village in Buug town, Zamboanga Sibugay, when shot by one of two men riding tandem on another motorcycle that tailed them around 11:15 a.m. Tuesday.

Elisan was hit in the body and head which caused his instantaneous death while Baldicasa and Encallado were admitted at the Wilfrido Palma Hospital in Diplahan town.

Police investigation continues to identify the perpetrators.
