THE police forces of Alicia town in Zamboanga Sibugay have intercepted a truckload of smuggled rice along the Zamboanga-Pagadian Highway Monday night, the police reported.

The Alicia police were conducting a checkpoint when they intercepted a six-wheeler truck driven by Levy Gonzales around 9 p.m. Monday in the village of Poblacion.

The police said Gonzales failed to present pertinent documents of the 280 sacks of rice loaded on the truck he was driving.

The rice came from Zamboanga City and were supposed to be delivered to a certain Musa in Alicia, the police said.

The truck and the cargo were impounded while the driver was detained, the police said. (Bong Garcia/Sunnex)
