GOVERNMENT authorities have intercepted a shipment of at least 200 grams of shabu with an estimated market value of P1 million at the Zamboanga International Airport (ZIA), an official said Wednesday.
ZIA Aviation Security Group chief Senior Inspector Reycar Bassig said the shipment of shabu was intercepted around 8:15 a.m. Wednesday at the airport’s check-in area.
The shipper of the shabu is a certain Abdusahar while the consignee is a certain Nadzmer, said Bassig.
Bassig added that the shipment, sent through a private courier firm, is bound for Jolo, Sulu via Zamboanga City, and was uncovered by the Office of the Transport Security (OTS) personnel manning the x-ray scan machine at the airport.
The OTS personnel are under the Department of Transportation and Communications.
Bassig said the shabu was wrapped in black plastics, placed in three coffee packs and packed in a five-kilogram box of the courier firm.
The OTS immediately notified the aviation security personnel who later subjected the box to manual inspection. Bassig said the shipment arrived in this city Tuesday from Las Pinas City. (Bong Garcia)
