Friday, January 24, 2014
THE Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative (Zamcelco) is acquiring a modular power generator aimed to address possible power deficit starting in the second quarter of this year.
This was disclosed by Zamcelco Membership Education Section officer-in-charge Ferdinand Rodriguez, who said the modular power generator set that will be purchased will have a 16-megawatt (MW) capacity.
Rodriguez said the decision to purchase modular generator set was based on the data provided by the cooperative’s technical services division.
Rodriguez said the data showed that Zamcelco member-consumers will be power deficit starting April up the month of November this year.
Rodriguez said the power deficit that will range from as low as less than 1MW to as high as 11MW will cause from two to three hours blackout daily in this city.
Zamcelco, which is serving more than 112,000 member consumers covering 90 of this city’s 98 villages, has a peak load demand as high as 91MW, according to Rodriguez.
He said the bidding for the purchase of the 16-MW modular generator set will be held on Monday, January 27, under the supervision of the National Electrification Administration. (Bong Garcia)
