TWO people, including a village official, were killed on two separate gun attacks Sunday here in Zamboanga Peninsula, the police reported Tuesday.
Killed were Mercedita Heyrana, 46, a village treasurer, and Federico Maniego, a trader of kitchen utensils.
The police said that Heyrana was killed around 10 a.m. Sunday at Purok San Francisco in the village of Igat, Margosatubig, Zamboanga Del Sur.
Investigation showed that Heyrana was aboard a motorcycle driven by her husband, Jimuel, traveling from Sitio Tigbalogo in the village of Digon bound for Igat village when shot to death by unidentified gunmen, the police said.
Heyrana’s husband escaped unscathed, the police said.
The suspects fled towards the shoreline of Igat village and boarded a motorized banca that sped towards the high seas of Malangas, Zamboanga Sibugay province.
The police said that Maniego was killed around 12 noon Sunday at Sitio Banso in the village of Sta. Maria, Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte.
Maneigo was a resident of 54 Bonifacio Street, Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat.
Investigation showed that Maniego was on a door-to-door sale of kitchen utensils when lone unidentified gunman appeared and fatally shot him three times, the police said.
