A CRIMINAL case has been filed in court against two people arrested recently in an entrapment operation for extorting money from a bus firm in a west coast village of Zamboanga City, the police reported Friday.
Charged with robbery were Jomar Pillay, 21, a resident of Lakiki village, Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte, and Gerwin Luania, 24 of Sto. Niño village of the same municipality.
Police Station 10 commander Inspector Chester Natividad said the case was filed in court against the suspects after the Office of the City Prosecutor found probable cause against them.
Pillay and Luania were arrested in an entrapment operation last February 5 by combined police forces from Police Stations 10 and 9 in the village of Ayala, 16.50 kilometers west of the city.
The entrapment operation was carried out after Filomena Faustorilla, manager of D' Biel Transit Company, reported to the Police Station 10 that she received text messages from a certain Commander Wakas demanding money from her.
Faustorilla said that Commander Wakas even threatened to bomb the buses of the transport company if she will not grant their demand.
Natividad immediately coordinated with Police Station 9 commander Senior Inspector Edilberto Alvarez for the entrapment operation since the suspects told Faustorilla to hand them over the money in Barangay Ayala.
The entrapment resulted in the arrest of the suspects in Ayala village, but the suspects were able to pay a P100,000 bail each for their temporary liberty, Natividad said.
