A VILLAGE official was killed in a gun attack along the highway of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported Friday.

Zamboanga Peninsula police information officer Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca said the incident took place around 11:30 a.m. Friday along the national highway in Barangay Sta. Isabel, Dipolog City, the capital of Zamboanga del Norte.

Huesca identified the victim as Salvador Jamorol, a councilman in the village of Miputak, Dipolog City.

Initial investigation showed that Jamorol was along the highway when fatally shot by unidentified gunmen, Huesca said.

Investigation continues in a bid to establish the motive and unmask the gunmen’s identities.
