POLICE have arrested three of the four suspects behind the brutal slay of three people including a five-year-old girl in the nearby province of Basilan, the police reported Wednesday.
The police said the arrested suspects are Rigoberto Erasgas, 28, Alty Falcasantos, and Ricky Toledo.
The suspects allegedly killed Pablo Guerrero, 74, his wife, Teresa, and their five-year-old granddaughter, in the village of Switch Yakal, Lantawan town in Basilan Monday noon, the police added.
Police Station 9 chief Edilberto Alvarez said Erasga was arrested around 6 p.m. Tuesday in the village of Cawit, west of Zamboanga City.
Senior Inspector Alvarez said Erasga fled to Zamboanga City since he is from the village of Talisayan, and has been staying in Switch Yakal, Lantawan for the past two weeks.
Erasga was arrested after the police received a tip from informants, including the suspects’ families.
Alvarez said Erasga has record at his headquarters for his alleged involvement in robbery cases and violence against women and children.
Lantawan police chief Basirin Hassan said Falcasantos and Toledo were arrested after Erasga has revealed that there are three other suspects.
Hassan and his men on Wednesday fetched Erasga from this city to Lantawan, Basilan.
Hassan said that Toledo and Falcasantos were arrested Wednesday afternoon in the village of Switch Yakal, Lantawan town.
Hassan withheld the identity of the fourth suspect since manhunt operation continues.
The victims, who are from Zamboanga City, were visiting their farm at the time of the incident.
The motive of the incident was robbery, Hassan said.
