DTI holds visual merchandizing seminar-A A +A

THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has scheduled the conduct of a two-day visual merchandizing seminar for store owners, sales managers, and visual merchandisers in Zamboanga City, a DTI official announced.
DTI Provincial Director Rolando Acuña said the seminar is aimed to enhance the capability and competitiveness of the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the city.
Acuña said experts on product and creative designs had been tapped by the agency as resource persons and facilitators for the two-day seminar, which will be held Thursday until Friday.
Acuña said that topics and modules to be tackled include a lecture on the importance of visual merchandising as a strategic marketing tool, and a review and update on the current and upcoming design and color trends in fashion, home decors and accessories.
The second day of the seminar shall be devoted to workshops on story boards and booth design, and that the participants shall be divided into groups to come up with a mock-up model store design and a window display store design, according to Acuña.
He said workshop materials for the seminar participants will be provided.
"This seminar is actually just one of several trainings and seminars we have lined up this year under the DTI's SME Roving Academy program. This is intended to improve the capability and enhance the competitiveness of our micro, small and medium enterprises," he said.
"Our MSMEs should take advantage of this opportunity as this kind of seminar is not offered very often in the region," he added.
He said registration to attend the seminar is free but participation is strictly on a first come, first serve basis. (Bong Garcia)
