A PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) applicant died after completing a three-kilometer run while undergoing Physical Agility Test (PAT) in Zamboanga City, the police said Saturday.
Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula (PRO-9) spokesman Senior Inspector Joseph Ortega identified the applicant as Marichel Dagsan, 25, of Bella village, Alicia, Zamboanga Sibugay.
Ortega said that Dagsan was one of the 160 PNP applicants who are undergoing PAT at Camp Romeo Abendan that houses the PRO-9 headquarters in the village of Mercedes, this city.
Investigation showed that Dagsan was rushed to the hospital around 9:45 a.m. Thursday after the training staff conducting the PAT together with the Regional Health Service noticed she became pale after completing the three kilometer run, Ortega said.
He said that Dagsan went wild while undergoing medical treatment and had to be restrained by the accompanying PNP personnel.
He said they notified Dagsan’s relatives and her aunt, Dolores Dagsan, was present during the time the applicant was undergoing medical treatment. However, he said Dagsan died around 6:35 p.m. Thursday while undergoing medical treatment.
Dagsan's remains were taken to a local funeral parlor, while post mortem and further investigation is still being undertaken by Regional Investigation and Detection Management, Ortega said.
