Friday, May 16, 2014
A DEPARTMENT of Labor and Employment (Dole) official announced that 216 fresh college graduates in Zamboanga del Sur have qualified for the Government Internship Program (GIP).
Dole officer Lourdes Amores said the agency employed the fresh college graduates through the GIP to assist in the implementation and monitoring of the agency’s programs and projects related to employment facilitation.
Amores said the internship program provided opportunities to the beneficiaries to show their skills and talents while undergoing internship to fully prepare them for future employment.
Amores said the implementation of GIP is in line with the provision of Executive Order 139, series of 1993 as component of Kabataan 2000 to provide opportunities to young workers who serve the general public in government agencies, projects, and programs at the national and local level.
She said the internship program is implemented in two batches. The first batch started working last April 15 while the second batch last May 5.
She said GIP beneficiaries who were dispatched last April 15 will work until October and those deployed from May 5 to November this year.
Each of them will receive a P210 daily salary, which is 75 percent of the existing minimum wage approved by the Regional Tripartite Wages Board, Amores said. (Bong Garcia)
