DOH holds disease surveillance, response conference

A TOTAL of 30 medical professionals have attended a two-day Philippine Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response annual conference in Zamboanga City.

DOH Bureau of Epidemiology Surveillance Officer Julius Velasquez was the resource speaker during the two-day conference.

DOH Regional Epidemiology Surveillance Unit head Dr. Norvie Jalani said the activity was aimed to reinforce and keep the disease surveillance network abreast of what is happening around the world and community.

“The activity was also aimed to improve health security,” Jalani said.

She said the participants include physicians, nurses and personnel from the epidemiology surveillance units from the different parts of the region.

She said the topics they have tackled were updates on new surveillance interventions for epidemic prone diseases such as the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus, dengue, poliomyelitus, measles, and neonatal tetanus.
