Watchman survives ambush

A VILLAGE watchman survived an ambush, although wounded, in a remote village of Zamboanga del Norte.

The Zamboanga del Norte Police Office reported that the incident took place around 10:15 a.m. Sunday in the village of Mucas, Salug municipality.

The Salug police identified the victim as Jaime Quilaton, 52, a village watchman of Mucas.

Investigation showed the victim was driving his motorcycle on the way home after visiting his friend, Daniel Cabanlit, when fired upon by an unidentified gunman, the police said.

The victim was rushed to Liloy Integrated District Health Hospital for treatment and was later transferred to a hospital in Dipolog City, the police said.

Investigation continues to identify the suspect, the police said.
