1 killed, another hurt in shootout-A A +A

A SUSPECTED lawless group member was killed while a government agent was wounded in a shootout in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported Sunday.
Two other people, who were at the scene of the shootout, were held for questioning.
The Zamboanga del Norte Police Office reported that the incident took place around 5:20 p.m. Friday in the village of Sirawai proper, Sirawai municipality.
The police identified the fatality as Absadi Samah, an alleged lawless group member, who was rushed to a health facility but was declared dead on arrival.
Wounded was Suhaile Ladjabulan, a member of the Sirawai Municipal Police Marshall.
Investigation showed that prior to the shootout, Ladjabulan along with another Police Marshall, Samer Alif, sighted a group of armed men in the village of Sirawai proper.
They reported to the local police which prompted Sirawai police commander Chief Inspector Hadjiri Langgal to lead the alert team to verify the report.
However, the gunmen opened fire upon seeing the arriving lawmen hitting Ladjabulan, the police said.
The gunmen scampered and ran towards the compound of the Dacula family when the responding team of policemen returned fire, the police said.
The police said that the lawmen found Asmah wounded during a clearing operation at the compound prompting them to bring him to the health center but was declared dead on arrival.
Ladjabulan, who was also rushed to the Sirawai health facility, was later transferred to a hospital in Zamboanga City, the police said.
Two persons namely Nastam Dayan, 50, and Annie Bongbong, 24, who were found inside the Dacula compound were taken to the Sirawai police station for investigation, the police said.
