4 wounded in a brawl, 2 detained

FOUR people were injured in a hacking incident preceded by mauling in Dipolog City, the capital of Zamboanga del Norte province, the police reported Saturday.

The Zamboanga del Norte Police Office said the incident took place around 9:10 p.m. Wednesday at Purok Sampaguita in the village of Olingan, Dipolog City.

The police identified the victims as the following: Mark Dave Tracarol, 21; Rodrigo Mejos, 41; Jovencio Dayondon Jr., 52; and, Annabella Abitona, 37.

Investigation showed that Taracol and Mejos were having a drinking spree at the residence of Dayondon when Ramil Dimasuhid, who was drunk, arrived and attacked Taracol with an empty of beverage but missed his target.

The attack on his visitors prompted Dayondon to chased Dimasuhid who ran towards the house of his brother-in-law Cirilo Abitona.

The group of Dayondon mauled (Cirilo) Abitona when he surface and tried to pacify them as they challenged Dimasuhid to come out for a fight.

Dimasuhid grabbed a bolo and hacked Dayondon and his two companions who barged into the house of Abitona and mauled him.

Abitona’s wife, Annabella, was wounded after a sharp instrument hit her face when she tried to pacify the group, the police said.

Dayondon and his two visitors as well as Annabella were brought to the Zamboanga Del Norte Medical Center while Abitona and Dimasuhid were detained at detention cell of Dipolog City Police Station, the police said.
