ALL is set for the observance Wednesday of the Arbor Day na Ciudad de Zamboanga (Zamboanga City Arbor Day).

The observance of the Arbor Day na Ciudad de Zamboanga is pursuant to Ordinance 281 and is in observance of Philippine Arbor Day on June 25 every year.

The Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources (OCENR) will lead the Arbor Day observance, which seeks to encourage the public to protect the environment.

In a statement Tuesday, City Hall said the Arbor Day celebration will start at 7 a.m. with a commemorative program at the Cesar Climaco Freedom Park in Mount Abong-Abong.

Mayor Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar will keynote the activity while first district Representative Celso Lobregat and second district Representative Lilia Nuno will also deliver Arbor Day messages.

It will be followed by tree planting activity at a designated planting site in Mount Abong-Abong, Pasonanca.

Those who will join the Arbor Day observance are government officials, academe, civic organizations and other sectors.

The tagging of declared “Century” trees situated located in the villages of Pasonanca and Sta. Maria will be held after the tree planting activity.
