Farmer shot dead by fellow

A FARMER have shot and killed a fellow farmer following a verbal tussle and attacked physically at his residence in Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay province, the police reported Thursday.

The Zamboanga Sibugay Police Office reported that the incident took place around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Purok Anunang in the village of Dalangin, Titay municipality.

The police identified the victim as Eddie Bacolod, 48, who was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician at a private hospital.

Bacolod was allegedly shot and killed by Eduardo Nueva, 45, who according to the police was attacked physically by the former following a verbal tussle, the police said.

Investigation that Bacolod allegedly entered the residence of Nueva and confronted the latter at the terrace that resulted to a heated argument, the police said.

Bacolod allegedly pick a shovel and struck Nueva hitting on the leg that prompted the latter to run inside his house, the police said.

However, Bacolod pursued Nueva and successively struck the latter, who managed to evade and get his .45 caliber pistol and shot the former once in the chest.

The suspect was detained at the police headquarters of Titay, the police said, adding that the motive was personal grudge.
