TEN policemen were injured in two separate vehicular accidents here in the Zamboanga Peninsula, a police official said Sunday.

However, only three of the 10 injured policemen were identified. They are Senior Police Officer 1 (SPO1) Jus Asmad Sawadjaan, PO1 Mohammad Nur Islamia, both assigned in the nearby town of Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay and PO3 Roel Hocoy of the Zamboanga Sibugay Public Safety Company’s 2nd Platoon.

Inspector Dahlan Samuddin, information officer-in-charge of the Police Regional Office (PRO-9) in Zamboanga Peninsula, said Sawadjaan and Islamia were injured in an accident around 4:15 p.m. Friday along the highway in the village of Cabaluay, 17 kilometers east of this city.

Samuddin said the duo were injured after they crashed on the pavement when Sawadjaan lost control of the motorcycle’s steering bar when he accidentally bumped on a goat that suddenly dashed across the highway while they were en route to the municipality of Tungawan.

Samuddin said Hocoy was driving a jeep with seven other policemen as his passengers when he lost control of the steering wheel while negotiating a curved and rammed into a barrier at the side of the road around 2:10 p.m. Saturday in the village of Biswangan, Lakewood, Zamboanga Del Sur.

They were on the way to carry out internal security operations in the village of Baking, Lakewood town when they met the accident, Samuddin said.

Hocoy’s companions were not identified except that they belong to the Zamboanga Sibugay Public Safety Company’s 2nd platoon and 2nd Mobile Company of Regional Public Safety Battalion, he said. (Bong Garcia)
