THE Zamboanga City Government has collected P949 million in revenues during the second semester of last year despite disrupted business activities due to the September 2013 siege by of a faction of the Moro National Liberation Front.
The City Hall information office attributed such milestone to the adoption by the City Treasurer’s Office of new and non-traditional collection strategies.
The City Government also opted to suspend the collection of rent charges on city-owned facilities for several months and extended the deadline for the payment of business taxes in consideration with the difficulty faced by the affected business community.
The City Hall information office also said that the City Treasurer’s Office has collected P2.1 billion revenues from July 1, 2013 to June 13, 2014 and P949 million of the total amount were collected in the second half of 2013.
The City Hall information office said added that the City Treasurer’s Office exceeded its target revenue collection for 2013 by P14 million.
