A MEMBER of the Philippine Navy was arrested after he allegedly mauled and threatened a stand-up comedian at a night club in Zamboanga City, the police reported Monday.
Inspector Dahlan Samuddin, information officer-in-charge of the Police Regional Office (PRO) in Zamboanga Peninsula, identified the arrested Navy personnel as Corporal Rolen Peñafier, 33, a native of San Lucas village, Barotac Viejo, Iloilo City.
Samuddin said that prior to Peñafier’s arrest, the navy man allegedly struck Justin Montero, 27, with a .45 caliber pistol in the head without apparent reason around 1 a.m. Sunday inside the Blue Diamond Disco and Resto Bar along Governor Camins, Zamboanga City.
Montero, a native of Compostela Valley province, is a stay-in stand-up comedian at the Blue Diamond Disco and Resto Bar.
Further investigation showed that Peñafier, who was allegedly drunk, threatened the life of Montero and have shouted “babalikan namin kayo,” Samuddin said.
The victim was rushed to the hospital while the suspect was taken to the Police Station 7 for investigation, Samuddin said.
