Cop dies in accidental gun fire

A POLICEMAN was killed in an accidental firing in an east coast village of Zamboanga City, the local police said.

The report of the Police Station 5 stated that the incident took place around 11:15 p.m. Friday at Zone 5 in the village of Zambowood, east of the city.

The police identified the fatality as Police Officer 1 (PO1) Alfredo Piola, who was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician when rushed to the hospital.

Piola, who was assigned to the traffic division, sustained a bullet wound in the head, the police said.

However, the Police Station 5 did not explain how the bullet of Piola’s .45 caliber pistol hit him in the head.
