Abu Sayyaf spotter killed

A SUSPECTED spotter of the Abu Sayyaf Group died in a gun attack in Lamitan City, Basilan province, the police reported Monday.

Lamitan City police commander Gean Gallardo identified the fatality as Abdul Lampas, a resident of Barangay Kabangalan, Ungkaya Pukan municipality.

Gallardo said Lampas was fatally shot around 8:40 a.m. Monday at Oval site in the village of Matibay, Lamitan City.


Oval site is the commercial center of Lamitan, one of the trading hubs of Basilan.

Gallardo said Lampas sustained seven gunshot wounds and died on the spot.

Lampas has been identified as member of the Abu Sayyaf brigands based on the rouge gallery of the Lamitan City police headquarters.
