Zambo police tighten security

Tuesday, October 04, 2016

THE Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) has tightened the security as the visitors continued to arrive for the 2016 Zamboanga Hermosa Festival celebration.

This came about after the intelligence operatives of the ZCPO have arrested three people, including two suspected Abu Sayyaf bandits, and seized explosives and bomb-making components.

The ZCPO reported the two suspected Abu Sayyaf bandits namely Jabar Ignohasim, 24 and Abdulla Yusup, 27, were tasked to create havoc during the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival celebration.

Ignohasim was from the village of Bus-Bus, Jolo, Sulu, and Yusup from Talipao, Sulu and were reportedly followers of Abu sayyaf sub-leader Alhabsy Misaya.

The two were caught by the police in possession of explosives and bomb-making components.

The ZCPO said the duo was also on a mission to seize a Chinese businessman, who is a resident of Pasonanca village, Zamboanga City.

ZCPO Director Luisito Magnaye, however, withheld the identity of the businessman.

The intelligence operatives of the ZCPO are working closely with their military counterpart to prevent the entry of lawless elements in the city.

The presence of the two Abu Sayyaf bandits was uncovered when the ZCPO intelligence operatives served a warrant of arrest against their companion identified as Abdel Dela Cruz.

Dela Cruz is facing murder charges and a warrant of arrest has been issued against him by the court of Jolo, Sulu.

The ZCPO said the three arrived in the city on Sunday from Jolo, Sulu. (Sunnex)
