THE Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative (Zamcelco) on Thursday, July 20, announced that they will increase by five percent the surcharge in delayed payment of power bills by its member-consumers.

Zamcelco information officer Ferdinand Rodriguez said that the surcharge will be increased to 10 percent from five percent on late payment of bills “effective billing month of August 2017.”

Rodriguez said the increase in the imposition of surcharge is pursuant to Zamcelco Board Resolution No. 25 series of 2017 dated on January 27, which was duly approved by the National Electrification Administration last March 13.

He said that Policy No. 01-27-17 stated that, member-consumers who pay their electric bill/s on or before the due date shall not be subject for any surcharges.

The due date is 10 days from the date the electric bill was tendered.

It is to facilitate the right of way clearing operation on three-phase lateral lines serving the village of Pamucutan.
