GOVERNMENT authorities have arrested a known drug personality and seized P120,000 worth of illegal drugs in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police said on Thursday, August 10.

Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula (Western Mindanao) information officer, identified the arrested suspect as Joseph Herrera, 61, tagged as "high value target level 1" drug personality.

Galvez said the suspect was arrested in a drug bust at 8:10 a.m., Wednesday, in the village of Biasong, Dipolog City, the capital of Zamboanga del Norte province.

She said the drug bust was jointly conducted by policemen, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency operatives and Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Highway Patrol Team.

The information officer said confiscated from the suspect's possession were P500 marked money, 11 heat-sealed plastic sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as "shabu," weighing 20 grams with an estimated market value of P120,000 and P170 cash money.

She said the suspect was detained while appropriate charges are set to be filed against him. (SunStar Philippines)
