ZAMBOANGA City has received the 2016 Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The DSWD has chosen Zamboanga City as among the 33 local government units (LGUs) of Zamboanga Peninsula to receive the Seal of the Child-Friendly Local Governance.
Ma. Socorro Rojas, city social welfare and development office chief, received the child-friendly certificate during the policy forum held last week by DSWD Regional Director Araceli Solamillo.
The award was given to LGUs that passed the annual mandatory Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA).
The DSWD first conducted the CFLGA with its 12 indicators.
The indicators included the following: increased number of children attending day care services, reduced number of children who are victims of violence and abuse, and absence or reduced number of child labor cases. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
