THREE people, including a businesswoman, were wounded in a gun attack by a soldier near a military camp in Zamboanga City, the police reported on Sunday, August 27.
The Police Station 7 identified the victims as Sahaba Abdulla, 32, a businesswoman, her nephew, Ahmad Wahab, 21, and Radzmalyn Hassan, 37. They were rushed to the hospital.
The police identified the suspect as Sergeant Bensaudi Idjal, 40, assigned with the Civil Military Operations Group of the Task Force-Zamboanga.
The incident happened around 4:30 a.m., Saturday, August 26, in the vicinity of the Edwin Andrews Air Base in the village of Sta. Maria.
Investigation showed the victims were about to board a motorcycle when the suspect arrived and allegedly shot them.
Abdulla told the police that the suspect is a relative of her late soldier-husband, Alyaser Abdulla, who was killed while fighting against the Maute group in Marawi City.
The police said the possible motive has connection to the death claims by Abdulla since she is the second wife of the soldier slain in Marawi City.
Meanwhile, in coordination with his commanding officer, Idjal was arrested at Camp General Arturo Enrile that house the Task Force Zamboanga. (SunStar Philippines)
