THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Group has filed criminal charges against two policemen for the killing of a soldier in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, a police official said on Wednesday, August 30.
Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula (Western Mindanao) information officer, named the respondents as Police Officer 2 Ronald Zeros and Police Officer 1 Michael Bulanday of Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur.
Galvez said the case of murder was filed on Tuesday before the Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.
They were charged for the killing of Corporal Rodillo Bartolome on August 23 in Barangay Monte Alegre, Aurora municipality.
Bartolome was assigned with the Army’s 53rd Infantry Battalion and presently detailed in embattled city of Marawi since May.
He just disembarked from a passenger bus on his way to visit his family Barangay Kanipay, Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur when shot by the two policemen, who was reportedly checking the reported presence of a gunman. (SunStar Philippines)
